Refresh your Assists
August 20th, 2022, 3:00PM-6:00PM
Teachers: has it been 2 years (or more!) since you've taught with hands-on assists and you're feeling a little rusty? Yogis: have you missed being assisted during your practice and are looking for an opportunity to learn more first-hand about how adjustments can benefit and deepen your practice? Teachers and students alike: it's time to get a refresher on assists!
During this 3-hour workshop we will review the basic principles of hands-on adjustments, go over how to assist students in the foundational flows (ex: Surya Namaskar A & B) and postures of the yoga practice and, time permitting, explore how to build up to and support students in more advanced asanas.
A minimum of 1 year of established practice is strongly recommended.
$70 ($65 by August 2nd)
With a background in hip hop dance + competitive sport aerobics, Frances began practicing yoga in 2006 when she started working for lululemon athletica. This became her new passion + way of life. To her, dance is very much an outward expression, whereas yoga offers an opportunity for self-reflection. In 2011, Frances completed her 300-hour Jivamukti Teacher Training with Sharon Gannon + David Life in New York. In January 2013, she became a certified Advanced Jivamukti Teacher + in May 2015 she had the honour + privilege of mentoring the Jivamukti Teacher Training in New York. She draws from experiences + relationships in all areas of her life to bring creativity, compassion, joy + laughter to her classes + teachings.
Lea is a PhD student in Mental Health Research at McGill University. She discovered yoga in Thailand during her undergraduate studies and first enjoyed it as a form of physical exercise to build strength and flexibility to further her running skills. She soon discovered the benefits of cultivating mindfulness “on and off the mat” through meditation and her yoga practice. In 2016, after practicing yoga for 8 years she completed her Yoga Teacher Training at Luna Yoga. She enjoys teaching yoga flow both in studio and in community settings. She has also taught various age groups while always taking a similar teaching approach using openness, a lighthearted mood, and mindfulness.
