Curating the best in Canadian-made eco-friendly products, Luna looked no further than Routine cream when looking for a natural deodorant to offer to our community. From two Canadian sisters hailing from Calgary who had a dream to bring a little ‘clean to your routine’, Routine creams offer an array of types of deodorants so you can smell the way you want to. With several vegan options (made without beeswax) which now can be found on the shelves at Luna, these natural deodorants are made with ingredients like coconut oil, cocoa butter and kaolin clay, and scented with essential oils.
With their sassy vibe, their brand inspires a playful way to approach underarms and the natural deodorant craze. Regular deodorants are known to block your pores, contain aluminum, a known neurotoxin that has been linked to diseases such as Alzheimer’s. and in some studies, prolonged exposure to aluminum (like using it on your skin every day) has been connected to breast cancer. Finding safer alternatives is a no brainer and even better is a natural one that actually works.
Routine creams work, and with product named after iconic songs and tongue-in-cheek cultural references, they are a lot more fun to use than your regular pharmacy deodorants. One of our faves, Sexy Sadie, is lightly scented with ylang ylang, orange, and cinnamon. For a lighter scent, try Lucy in the Sky with notes of lavender, patchouli and vanilla. And for the gender-neutral seekers, try Johnny’s Cash with notes of cedar wood, patchouli and pine.
Each glass jar (Plastic-free!) is enough for three to six months, and fits easily into your gym bags. This product requires you to use your hand or we have found that a small wooden stick does the job when we are on-the-go. The usual habit of just swiping a stick deodorant is easy but costly to the environment with extra plastic-waste. These natural deodorants inspire you to change your habits, to not only protect the planet with less waste, but to protect your body. And both of these are worth protecting!
