Teaches Yoga in the Park Wednesdays 6-7pm
1. Why did you start practicing/teaching yoga?
It was around 5 years ago, at the beginning of my career, as a software developer in a fast-paced company, I was very stressed all the time, and plus I was taking French classes at night to prepare for the Quebec immigration tests, and I didn’t do any exercises. Soon I got many health problems, I got heavy back pain due to sitting all day long, headache and I lost my sleep. Then a friend of mine recommended me to do Yoga and he recommended Luna. After a few classes, I felt I was getting much stronger and less stressed, I started to breathe deeper and that was really soothing my mind, so I decided to continue the practices. No matter how busy I was, I always set the time for yoga. Then I took teacher training in 2019, at first I didn’t plan to teach, I was just thinking about learning more about yoga, like the techniques, alignments, and the philosophy, and maybe teach my family and friends. But then after the training I felt more confident, I found my voice, and especially when I started to teach and at the end of the class I saw people were happy, this really encouraged me a lot to continue to teach yoga because I saw my impact.
2. In what way has yoga helped you?
There are many ways. As I mentioned before, I started to breathe deeper and I felt much less stressed at work and life. By practicing yoga for a long time, all the pains on my body were relieved. I brought more focus to the present moment and be more mindful of whatever I do. I made new friends by practicing yoga together, and this changed my life because as an immigration came to a new country and new city, I felt very warm welcomed and be part of a community. I become a much calmer and happier person.
3. What are the positive results you have experienced from practicing yoga?
I feel good all the time.
I am getting much stronger.
I have less fear when trying new things.
I am much happier than before.
I started to eat so much healthier.
I have more friends.
I am focusing more on each moment in life.
I sleep much better.
and so much more…
