Insteada-Tuna Melt

This recipe comes from Sharon Gannon’s (one of the co-founders of Jivamukti Yoga) vegan cookbook Simple Recipes for Joy. She visited Montreal on her book tour in 2014 and Luna Yoga hosted a special event where she taught a Master Class and the wonderful local vegan bakery Sophie Sucrée made some of the recipes which we served after class. Jessica's Maple Dijon Tempeh Marinade

Back in May when we first started quarantine we organized a vegan cooking class with former Luna Yoga receptionist turned professional chef, Jessica Gebel (you can find her on instagram here or check out her amazing line chickpea products Fabalish). She taught us 3 fairly quick and simple recipes and this one was a big hit! If you are someone who is a little wary of tempeh… this is a way to make it super tasty and enjoyable! […]

The Vegan Cheese Dilemma

There are a lot of bad vegan cheeses out there, and they’re not cheap, so it can be discouraging to try a new one. We’ve tried quite a few, and find that some work better than others depending how you use them. […]

Spinach and Potato Samosas

During quarantine time I took some Ethiopian cuisine cooking classes organized by a dear friend with a wonderful person she found online named Betty. (You can find her on Facebook and YouTube). The money we paid for the cooking classes went to her charitable organization Hope Arising, which supports families in need in Ethiopia.

This is a recipe she showed us in one of her classes and it’s been a big hit with friends and family! […]

Easy Vegan Indian 'Takeout' with Naan

Indian food was always a favourite go-to takeout meal in winter but when I jumped onto the plant-based bandwagon, it wasn’t an option anymore. It had been years since I had Indian food and with the cold November wind upon us (and the election looming) I needed a distraction and some comfort food in equal measures.

So, here is my easy vegan Indian feast with Naan menu: Vegan Butter Chick’n, Red Lentil Dahl, Roasted Cauliflower, Vegan Naan Bread, Basmati Rice. You’ll need approximately 2 hours tp prep, but I start the dough and rice in advance then go and do other things until about 40 min before dinner. […]

The Best Vegan Carrot Cake

Our family LOVES the carrot cake at Aux Vivres, this cake comes close, or might be even better! It’s moist and delicious, plus it feels somewhat healthy since it has carrots and walnuts in it. I found this recipe in a cookbook that Shannon got me for my birthday one year; The Superfun Times Vegan Holiday Cookbook by Isa Chandra Moskowitz. It’s filled with great recipe ideas for every holiday. Last year I served some of my non-vegan family members Thanksgiving Burgers from this cookbook, and they loved it! I just made the Carrot Cake last week for my husband’s birthday, it was gobbled up in no time! […]
