Yoga for a Cause: Yoga for Brain Health with Stéph
Saturday, October 26th, 2024, 2:00 - 3:30pm

Breathe, move, rest and reset.

Join Luna’s Stéphanie Mercier, for an accessible therapeutic yoga practice dedicated to brain health. All proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Discover powerful ways yoga can reduce stress, and improve breathing patterns, concentration and mind-body awareness - all of which have protective effects on our brains.

This 90 minute gentle flo will focus on relaxation techniques and creating neuroplasticity through movement. By increasing the brain's capacity to form new neural connections and pathways, we train ourselves to be more resilent to experiences, learning, or changes in the environment.

During the practice, students will explore:

  • breathwork to engage the relaxation response

  • thoughtful movement through a slow vinyasa flo

  • self-inquiry and deep calm with a 30 minute iRest yoga nidra session

The class is designed to help students feel refreshed, clear-minded,and  a little more equipped to manage everyday stress and emotions. It was inspired by Stéphanie’s experience as a caregiver to her mother who is suffering from dementia.

The Alzheimer Society mission is to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and to promote the search for causes, treatments and a cure.

Donation of $10 with all proceeds going to Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Stéphanie Mercier

Stephanie happened upon yoga as a complement to running and cycling. Over time, yoga - its philosophy and transformative effects became her main focus and she has been sharing her passion through teaching since 2021. She offers vinyasa flo with a therapeutic approach in group or private sessions, helping students advance their practice, come back to movement or adapt them when dealing with particular challenges like stress or injuries.
